When looking for a skin care product you have to be extra careful. Chemicals, oils, and other nasty things can cause long term damage that will hurt your skin in the long and short term. There are some that are worst than others, and should always be avoided.
For example, you should always dry to go for something that is oil-free. Oily products will blog the pores, creating small bumps and acne that can scar the skin in the long run. Not to mention the fact that it will look awful in the short term. Oils are usually found in moisturizers and makeup.
You should never use home tanning products. They may be safer than tanning beds, which have been found to cause cancer, but they will discolor the skin, and contain several chemicals that can actually burn you. This is especially true if you have a sensitive face that breaks out easily.
Stay away from abrasive facial scrubs. Something that creates a little friction is fine, but if it is meant to scrap off dead skin, you shouldn’t use it. This will create tiny little cuts on the surface of the skin, similar to cracks. It gives the skin a raw appearance, and can worsen fine lines and wrinkles, as well as cause breakouts.
